“Born in the Dark” by Zishan Mwavita

Family, faith, hard academic work, and loyal sponsors contributed to giving Zishan Mwavita and his brother the educational opportunities they needed and craved.
Once settled into university life, they returned home during a semester break and started the local volunteer activities that would eventually develop into a structured movement.
“Born in the Dark: A Memoir” captures every important moment from the author’s early childhood, through family struggles, academic challenges, and daring humanitarian work, until the present day. It shows us the rewards and pitfalls of building a movement from scratch, driven by faith and idealism.
